The elementary-age child is consciously fascinated with words -  what they do, where they come from, what they mean, how they have changed, and how they can be changed. These lessons present the concepts of suffixes, prefixes, compound words, and word families. They also lead to research in etymology, function of words, and are an aid to helping the younger child in reading development.
